Caitlin Lowe-Hoover, LPC

My deep love for nature began forming from a very young age. From romping the maple tree-filled neighborhoods of south-west Ohio to forming deeply meaningful connections with the animal companions I grew up caring for, the natural world filled me with a sense of wonder and belonging. The work I do with clients is rooted in the belief that connecting with all of the parts that make us who we are and forming meaningful relationships with our surrounding community (both human and non-human) can help us find solid ground in times of stress, trauma, and challenging life transitions.

ReRoot Therapy welcomes Caitlin!

As ReRoot has settled and grown we are thrilled to welcome our first additional therapist, Caitlin Lowe-Hoover, LPCC.

Meet Caitlin

Caitlin Lowe-Hoover (personal pronouns: they/ them)

Licensed Professional Counselor LPC. 0020324

Naropa University: Transpersonal Wilderness Therapy MA

Since 2014, I have been working in the mental health field in Equine Assisted Psychotherapy programs, in-patient youth crisis treatment centers, outpatient support groups for children and adults with disabilities, and community-oriented after school nature programs. In 2020, I graduated from the Clinical Mental Health Counseling graduate program with a concentration in Transpersonal Wilderness Therapy from Naropa University. Since then, I have supported individual clients through my private practice, Golden Aster Nature Based Therapy, as well as working for Resilience 1220, a nonprofit that brings free counseling to mountain communities in need. After working alongside Stephanie McBride (they/ them pronouns) at Medicine Horse Equine Assisted Psychotherapy, I joined ReRoot Therapy’s practice in May 2022!

I am passionate about creating a relationship built on safety, trust, and personal empowerment with each person I work with. I specialize in helping children, teens and young adults develop the skills to find nervous system regulation, form healthy attachments, and build skills to manage anxiety, depression, and trauma responses when life feels overwhelming. Mindful trail walks,  working with plants, tapping into creative expression through art, and engaging with horses are some of the many ways we can support your journey of gaining a deeper understanding of yourself. I believe that everybody of every social background should have access to supportive, healing relationships. I predominantly (and not exclusively) work with folks in the LGBTQIA2S+ community, including queer, trans, nonbinary, gender nonconforming, Two Spirit, intersex, questioning folks, and beyond.

Much of my therapeutic work is held outdoors, however I weave elements of the natural world into our sessions whether inside my office or outside. I take a collaborative approach with clients to explore what environment feels most supportive to their therapeutic work. Accommodations based on your physical ability, preference, and comfort with outdoor experiences are always taken into consideration.
